Item/Description: Blue and white Savona Italian Baroque-style maiolica Italian tin-glazed earthenware centerpiece / serving platter. Features a classical mythological scene featuring sea gods, nymphs (nereids), and playing cherubs (putti) emerging from ocean waves. Hand painted "Lanterna" (the Lighthouse of Genoa) under glaze mark with 1757. This emblem serves as the historic town mark used by the prominent ceramic workshops and factories operating in the Savona and Albisola regions of Liguria, Italy. (Majolica)
