Lot 5106 HAIR FROM GENERAL ROBERT E. LEE.
This hair and associated documentation is held within a modern frame that measures approx 14 3/4" x 17". The single hair is held within a gilded 2" x 1 1/2" filigreed frame mounted in the upper left hand corner of the document. The upper right hand corner contains a copy of the original provenance from a lock of Lee's hair. Signed and dated "April 19, 1869". Further words of authentication are provided by Charles Hamilton, noted autograph expert and Louis Mushro, life member of the Manuscript Society. Finally, a reproduced photo of Lee adorns the lower left corner. CONDITION: frame shows only the slightest wear. The hair appears well protected and preserved. (02-27029/BF). NON-GUN. $400-600.
