^Lot 4321 BRITISH PROOFED COLT DETECTIVE SPECIAL

DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 38 Spl. S#. 459079. Mfg 1938. This pre-war Colt is marked with broad arrow proof mark and British acceptance stamps in the upper corner of the left side of the frame, as well as, caliber markings in front of the cylinder. In 1933 Colt transitioned from the earlier square butt 1st issue detective special revolvers to round butt frames. During WWII Colt mfg detective specials for the US Govt with the earlier style square butt. These square butt revolvers were likely pre-war Police Positive Special frames that were fitted with the 2" detective special bbl's such as this one. Parkerized finish. 6-shot fluted cylinder. Checkered Colt medallion walnut grips. CONDITION: Overall good reparkerized metal finish with some edge wear and scattered handling marks. Light dragline present on the cylinder. Replacement ejector. The grips have heavy hand wear with some chips and sanding. Good bore with light rifling wear. (26-2052/ZAL) CURIO $800-1200
