Antique Winchester Model 1873 3rd Model Lever Action Rifle, #414688, .38 W.C.F. cal., 24" barrel, smooth walnut straight grip stock and forend, color case hardened buttplate with empty trap, dovetailed Lyman beaded blade front sight, buckhorn rear sight (missing elevator), dust cover, and brass cartridge elevator. Mfg'd 1892. Rifle is in good overall condition, retaining approx. 5%-10% finish, primarily on the magazine. The remainder of the metal surfaces have gone to brown patina, scattered light surface erosion and oxidation; worse on left side of the receiver. Lever and hammer show traces of color case hardened finish. Stock with indentations and scratches. Wood to metal fit is good with oil staining at the wrist; toe is slightly proud at the buttplate. Action functions correctly. Bore is fair, with scattered light erosion, displaying shallow but visible rifling. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (Antique)
