Remington Argentine Model 1879 Rolling Block Single Shot Rifle, #NVSN, .43 Spanish cal., 35.75" barrel, tinned finish. Smooth hardwood three-band stock with steel ramrod, sling swivels, and smooth steel buttplate. Rifle also features blade front sight, military style volley rear sight, and bayonet lug. Maker's marks on the tang are partially legible. Marked "MODELO ARGENTINO. 1879 E.N." on top of the barrel flat, at the breech. Mfg'd 1879. Rifle is in good overall condition, with the metal surfaces having gone to a mottled appearance, retaining traces of its original tinned finish, showing wear at the muzzle and scattered spots of surface erosion along the barrel; receiver has some areas of old, dried oil. Stock is in fair condition, showing heavy use, with general dents and scratches, several displaying crude resin filled repairs. Action functions well and locks up securely.
