^Lot 59 Antique Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle

Antique Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle, #46247, .45-70 cal., 26" octagon barrel, blue and color case hardened finish, smooth walnut straight grip stock and forend, smooth steel crescent buttplate, dovetailed silver tipped blade front sight, and replacement buckhorn rear sight. Mfg'd 1890. Rifle is in very good overall condition, metal surfaces having toned to gray/brown, with traces of original finish in the protected areas. Barrel with clean edges and a few small surface nicks; one which is slightly deeper, on the right side and approx. 12" from the muzzle. Hammer and lever display a few traces of smoky gray color case hardened finish. There is a small circular repair to an old hole on the tang. Stock is in near fine condition, with scattered moderate indentations and scratches. There is a small " sliver missing at the right side of the tang, " crack and small wood filler repair at the lower tang, and the front of the comb has been flattened; likely to accommodate an old peep sight. Lever action is crisp and functions well. Bore rates good overall and is bright with shallow, but clearly defined rifling. Est.: $2,000-$2,500. (Antique)
