Lot 45 SAPPHIRE
2016 GRADE Sorrel Mare
If you’re looking for your next happy-go-lucky, this is your mare. Sapphire is a 10-year-old mare standing 15.3 hands. She’s a true “been there, done that” kind of horse. She’s been to reining cow horse shows, parades, served as a rodeo queen horse, has been in hunting camp, moved cattle, and logged plenty of miles on the trail. If she hasn’t done something, she’s willing to give it a try. She has plenty of go when asked but is also calm and stands quietly. Sapphire is one of the quickest learners I’ve ever owned. I’m currently putting more buttons on her; as seen in the video, she’s continuing to improve her turnarounds. She has a solid “whoa,” especially with slider shoes, though she is currently in regular shoes due to being turned out. She would make an excellent 4-H horse for a more experienced rider. Sapphire has a smooth walk, trot, and lope, along with some showmanship training. During my time in 4-H, she was a buckle-winning horse. I showed her in both English and Western events, as well as showmanship. On the trail, she is dependable, not easily spooked, and stands well on a high line. While she isn’t particularly fond of water, she will cross it. This past year, I brought her with me to college and competed on the Ranch Horse Team. She rides well in a shank bit, though I currently have her in a snaffle for training purposes. Her biggest vise is being mareish; she’s all business. Never bucked, doesn’t kick or bite. Sapphire is easy to catch, load, bathe, and handle for the farrier. She is an easy keeper, has no soundness issues, and comes with a negative Coggins and up-to-date dental work. About five years ago, she had a crack in her front left hoof, which has grown out and continues to improve. She has never been sore on it, but it is something to be aware of. She does well both stalled and turned out to pasture. Sapphire is eligible for dual registration with both AQHA and APHA. I’d love to keep this mare but can’t afford bringing her back to college with me! I’ll hold her as long as needed! I’m willing to travel up to 200 miles away to meet the buyer.
