Lot 106F Parson's Battery #745/750

Parson's Battery #745/750
Approx 5 lbs

Key Details of Parsons' Battery (Union, 4th U.S. Artillery):
Battle of Stones River (Dec 1862–Jan 1863): Parsons' Battery was heavily engaged, often firing at close range to halt Confederate advances on the Nashville Pike.
Performance: The battery was noted for being "most powerful" on the field, firing roughly 10% of all Union ordnance used in the battle with high accuracy.
Leadership: Lt. Charles C. Parsons, a West Point graduate, was promoted to captain for his actions.
Other Engagements: The battery also saw action at the Battle of Perryville (1862) as an "improvised" unit, where it suffered high casualties.

Note on Confusion: Parsons' Battery is distinct from the 1st Missouri Field Battery (Confederate, also known as Ruffner's/Miller's) and Pratt's Texas Battery, which served in Confederate brigades under different commanders, notes the Texas State Historical Association
