Lot 111 Japanese Fukagawa Arita-ware Porcelain Vase

Item/Description: Japanese Imari Artia-ware vase dating to the late Edo to mid-Meiji period, circa 1860-1890. Large baluster-form body with elongated neck and flared rim. Finely decorated in the Kinrande style with a palette of underglaze cobalt blue, overglaze iron red, and heavy gilt highlights. Features dual hand-painted cartouches depicting courtiers in a rolling landscape, set against a dense ground of floral peonies and geometric shippo (seven treasures) patterns. Base bears the four-character mark "Hichozan Fukagawa-zo", identifying the piece as high-grade export porcelain from the renowned Fukagawa family workshop in the Sarayama district of Arita, famous for supplying exquisite wares to the Japanese Imperial Court and for international export.
