Lot 89 Qing Chinese Rose Medallion Teapot & Wicker Caddy

Item/Description: Antique Chinese Rose Medallion porcelain teapot, housed in its original fitted woven wicker traveling case. Dating from the late Qing Dynasty, approximately 1880s. The set is a classic example of Cantonese export ware. Features a cylindrical "Canton" body with a recessed, matching lid, all hand-painted in vibrant polychrome enamels. Decorated in the Famille Rose palette with traditional bird and butterfly motifs, set amidst blossoming peonies and lush foliage. The protective wicker case is woven from natural rattan and features a padded silk lining designed to retain heat and safeguard the porcelain during transport.
