Lot 85 Chinese Provincial Earthenware Wine Jug

Item/Description: Chinese blue and white porcelain dragon wine jug. Qing Dynasty, late 19th century. A heavily-potted ovoid porcelain vessel with a flat base, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with a dynamic "celestial dragon" amidst stylized clouds and flame scrolls. The shoulder features small lug handles (intended for a wire or wicker handle) and a short tapered spout. The neck is bordered by a classic Chinese "Greek key" or geometric fret motif. Condition: Signs of age and wear include surface scratches, scuffing, crazing, flea bites, marking, and pitting. Possible old repair to spout.
