Lot 116 Immortals Full Heraklion Mask/Helmet Movie Props
Heraklion Soldier screen worn helmet and mask. Original, production made and screen-worn helmet and mask set used by a Heraklion soldier in the visionary action-fantasy Immortals. As part of King Hyperion’s (Mickey Rourke) brutal scorched-earth campaign across Greece, the Heraklion soldiers were designed to look like faceless, insectoid nightmares—a stark contrast to the golden aesthetics of the Gods. Mask & Helmet are mconstructed from high-impact hard plastic and resin, the helmet features the signature "Heraklion" silhouette. It is finished in a weathered copper and deep brown palette, meticulously hand-painted by the production team to simulate battle-worn ancient metal. The centerpiece of the design is the flip-up front mask. This articulated faceplate allowed performers to transition between a closed-face "monster" look for wide shots and an open-face configuration for visibility and comfort between takes. The helmet features a custom-integrated leather mantle that hangs over the shoulders and neck. This leather was treated to look aged and "grimy," consistent with the nomadic, war-torn lifestyle of Hyperion's legions. Costume designer Eiko Ishioka intended for the Heraklion army to look "animalistic and terrifying." This helmet is a prime example of that vision, moving away from historical Greek accuracy toward a dark, surrealist fantasy. This is the last one like this available from the film. Premiere Props sold the original movie props and costumes from this film and this helmet was just released from the archives.
