Frank Thomas was a rising star in Major League Baseball (MLB) just starting his career. He was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 1989 and made his big league debut in August of 1990.
Even as a rookie in 1990, Frank Thomas showed his potential. He played in 60 games, batting a very impressive .330 with 7 home runs and 31 runs batted in (RBI). His power and hitting prowess earned him the nickname "The Big Hurt" early on in his career.
