Tur Hunt with Asian Mountain Outfitters
Travel to Azerbaijan to hunt Eastern (Dagestan) Tur with Asian Mountain Outfitters. This hunt is conducted using horses and a lot of mountain hiking at high elevations. Hunters need to be in good physical condition. The hunt is comparable to a British Columbia Mountain Goat hunt, but with no brush. Fog, snow and/or rain can occur on most hunts. This is typically a very difficult hunt and the hunters need to be experienced in mountain hunting (9,000-12,000’, depending on the area) and long range shooting (200-400 yards). Hunters have the option of adding a second Tur for $4,000. This Tur hunt includes 5 days of hunting plus a ½ day of driving/travel each way from Baku to the hunting area and back. If extra days are needed, they can be added for $350/day. Driven hunts can be organized for non-fit hunters, but we don’t recommend hunting Tur in this manner. Each hunter has one guide and one assistant. Typical Tur sizes are 28-34”. Tur of 40”+ have been taken, but animals of this size are rare. Hunt dates are July thru November. This hunt is scheduled to take place on one of the approximate dates of August. 12-20th or August. 20-28thth 2015; it’s one of the best overall times: good capes, great trophy quality and small chance for snow. Later season hunting is for the more adventuresome and it is more difficult to find a big one due to more challenging weather conditions. If the winning bidder cannot hunt during the selected date, additional fees will apply (approximately $1,000) to hunt a different date. Also, arrangements can be made to postpone hunt until the following year (also for an extra cost and with approval from Asian Mountain Outfitters). Hunter is responsible for the flights to and from Baku, Azerbaijan (travel is thru Istanbul Turkey via LAX, Houston, Chicago or JFK), Visa (completed before hunters leaves), lodging after hunt (1-2 nights in hotel at $70-150/night) and staff tips (about $1,100) and $100 for expedited boiling and trophy care so hunter can take their trophy home with them. The license, Vet Certificate and trophy fees for one Tur are included and there are no other hidden fees. If the hunter does not have an opportunity to harvest a Tur, there is a $2,000 refund or credit, which can be applied to a future hunt. A non-hunting companion is welcome for $2,500. If hunt space is available for additional hunters, on the same hunt date, the cost is $11,000 depending on the number of hunters coming. Our outfitting partner speaks English and he provides transportation to and from the hunting area, local guides, assistants, cooks, vehicles, horses (where needed), camps, food, lodging, and interpreter if they are not on the hunt (usually one English-speaking per camp), depending on the date and area being hunted. Tur are very plentiful and do not require a Cities Permit. Bryan has outfitted/guided in Canada for 16 years and 13 years in Central Asia and has personally been on over 50 Marco Polo, Ibex and Tur hunts, so he is very knowledgeable regarding these types of hunts. Make sure you check out Asian Mountain Outfitters website for more information. Donated by: Bryan Martin, Asian Mountain Outfitters (250) 317-5525

Ibex Hunt with Asian Mountain Outfitters
Travel to Tajikistan with Asian Mountain Outfitters. This hunt is conducted on foot, between 8-11,000’. Hunting is different than North America and hunters need to be prepared for cultural/language differences, long range and sometimes quick shooting (proficient at 500+ yards). The climate is similar to the high & dry areas of CO, NM and NV. This Ibex hunt includes 5-6 hunting days plus flights and travel, and it requires a hunter to be relatively fit and experienced in mountain hunting. Typical Ibex size ranges from 38 - 47”. An average Ibex is about 40/41”. It requires patience, skill, hard work and of course, some luck, to harvest big Ibex, but they are here. Hunt Nov. and Dec. for Rut hunts & earlier for nicer weather. This area is a 4-5 hour drive from Dushanbe, with some areas being more remote and others having more vehicle access. In general, this is a non-horseback hunt (using pack donkeys and foot/jeep hunting), but the hunt can be switched to a Kyrgyzstan horseback hunt, with our partners there, for a $750 upgrade. The most common Ibex hunt dates are October thru Dec. 20th in Tajikistan, but the season runs from Sept 1st thru February 28th. Serious bidders are welcome to discuss this hunt opportunity directly, before bidding. The hunt is to be taken during the 2015/2016 season, but arrangements can be made to postpone hunt until 2016/2017 (for an extra cost and with approval from Asian Mountain Outfitters). The license and trophy fee for one Ibex are included and there are no hidden costs. A non-hunting companion is welcome for $2,500. If hunt space is available for an additional hunter, on the same hunt date, price is $8,250. The hunt can also be upgraded to add 3-4 more hunting days for an additional $500. If clients want to shoot a second ibex or a wild boar, these are on a trophy fee basis and the longer hunt upgrade is recommended. This Ibex hunt can be upgraded to include Marco Polo for $26,000, but the hunt will take place in Kyrgyzstan. The hunter is responsible for the flight to and from Dushanbe via Turkish Air/Istanbul, meals and lodging while in Dushanbe (usually 1-2 nights), extra baggage fees for taking home skin/skull or shipping of trophies home and staff tips (clients will be provided with Tip suggestions). The area also has great Chuckar hunting for those interested in wing shooting. Asian Mountain Outfitters has their own equipment (tents, stoves) and their Tajik English speaking outfitter works in these exclusive areas and organizes local guides, assistants, cooks, vehicles, horses, camps, food, and lodging. Hiring a Western/English speaking guide to accompany the clients is typically not needed, but hunters need to be able to assist in trophy judging & overseeing skin/cap prep too. The Ibex are plentiful in most areas and do not require a U.S. Cities Import Permit, unlike Marco Polo sheep. Bryan has conducted seminars at various conventions in the past, about equipment, shooting and what should be expected on such hunts. He has outfitted in Canada since 1999 and in Central Asia since 2002 and has personally been on many successful Marco Polo/Ibex hunts and will do his best to educate and prepare a hunter, before the trip. Usually he spends 40-60 days each year in Asia, to insure that AMO is very knowledgeable regarding these hunts.
